Effective date: October 8, 2026
This policy explains what Rubric AI collects, why it is processed, and the choices available to users. Rubric AI helps users generate AI-assisted, rubric-aligned feedback. It is not a student information system and should not be used to store information that is not needed for grading.
When you create an account, we may receive your email address, display name, profile image, sign-in provider, locale, and basic sign-in security information.
We process essays, rubrics, assignment context, teacher edits, and generated feedback in order to provide the requested grading service. Users should remove unnecessary student identifiers before uploading content.
The anonymous preview processes the rubric and essay submitted for that preview. It does not create a saved essay record. Limited technical information may still be processed for security, abuse prevention, and operational logging.
We may process page visits, product events, referral or campaign parameters, language, browser and device information, IP address, error logs, and feature usage. We use this information to operate the Service, understand conversion and retention, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.
If you apply to a teacher pilot or research study, we may collect your name, professional role, subject area, grade range, assessment context, estimated grading volume, contact email, consent selections, and application source. We use this information to select and contact participants, operate the pilot, and analyze aggregate results. Do not submit student work or student identifiers through a pilot application form.
Payment processors handle card and billing details. Rubric AI may receive transaction identifiers, purchase status, product, amount, currency, and payer contact details needed to provide credits and keep financial records. Rubric AI does not intentionally store full payment-card numbers.
We use information to:
Rubric and essay content is transmitted to the AI provider configured for the grading request. Hosting, database, authentication, analytics, email, file-storage, and payment providers may also process limited data on our behalf.
Those providers operate under their own terms and data-processing practices. We do not claim that every available provider configuration meets the requirements of every school or jurisdiction. Organizations should contact us before using Rubric AI with regulated data or to request current subprocessors and contractual documentation.
Rubric AI is intended for teachers, tutors, adult students, and other users who can lawfully provide the submitted content. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly offer direct child accounts.
Do not upload identifiable student records unless you have the authority and any consent required to do so. Schools remain responsible for determining whether Rubric AI is appropriate for their use and for configuring their own policies. We do not represent the public Service as certified compliant with FERPA, COPPA, GDPR, or another sector-specific framework.
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information:
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the current Service, including encrypted network transport where supported, authentication, and access restrictions. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Specific security controls, certifications, audit cadence, or encryption-at-rest standards should not be assumed unless we confirm them in current written documentation.
We keep account, grading, transaction, and operational data for as long as reasonably needed to provide the Service, meet legal or accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and prevent abuse. Retention can vary by data type and provider.
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing support@rubricai.app. We may retain limited records where required by law, necessary for security, or needed to document a transaction. Shared links should be disabled before account deletion if you no longer want recipients to access them.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing of, or receive a copy of personal data. You may also disable non-essential browser storage or analytics through browser settings or available consent controls, although some product features may be affected.
To exercise a privacy right, email support@rubricai.app. We may need to verify your identity and authority over the requested data.
Rubric AI and its providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Data-protection rules may differ across those locations. Organizations with data-residency requirements should contact us before use.
We may update this policy when the product, providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be revised when a new version is published. Material changes may also be communicated in the product or by email when appropriate.
For privacy questions, data requests, or current provider information, contact support@rubricai.app.
